I went to go see Avatar today and thought it was okay. Avatar is all about the eye candy, which would've been great except I spent two hours of the movie fiddling around with my 3D glasses so that I didn't end up with a headache whenever I looked the screen.
Anyway, Avatar = Pocahontas + SPESHULLEFFAX. The end.

lol i thought the exact same thing when i heard about the movie
he made the titanic what it was... the most graphic movie of all time. how much money did it make???
so is it that big of a surprise that he took the story of pocahontas and made it into a major selling, without the majority of watchers even relaizing it?
that's the only kind of creativity you can find in most filmmakers these days
most other ideas have been used and abused. or, are lame as can be.
Those are only elements, I think people who say that it's just pocahontas or Dancing with wolves, missed the whole point of the movie. Pocahontas didn't talk about the human destruction to the planet, contamination, world emperialism, or a brother that was killed for cash. It didn't mention anything about current events. You might as well throw The Last Samurai in there if you are going to do elemental comparisons. Get a clue, change the world.
