BLOOD. Yummy. Joel posted about these Blood Energy Potions a while back. If you didn’t read it, they’re basically energy drinks that are marketed as having similar characteristics to blood: nutrition, consistency, and color. The Blood Energy Potion guys were awesome enough to send us some packets of these things so Joel and I tried them out. Not bad… not bad.

The consistency is not really what I expected. I thought it would be thicker, you know, like real blood, but its actually thinner. A bit thicker than your average soft drink but definitely thinner than blood.

And for the taste, well, I can tell you for sure that it does not taste like blood. If you like the taste of blood well then you’re out of luck. You’re gonna have to go steal some real blood packets or suck some out of an unsuspecting victim. What it does taste like is concentrated fruit punch. If you like fruit punch, awesome. And if you like concentrated fruit punch, awesomer.

Instructions on the back tell you to stick it in the microwave for 14 seconds to get it to body temperature and then drink it. But that was way too disgusting to try.

And as for the energy part of these things, I have no idea how well they perform. I’m pretty much immune to energy drinks and it doesn’t really help that I had a Mountain Dew before trying this blood potion out. So I’m just gonna trust they they provide four hours of energy.

You can get a four pack of these Blood Energy Potions for $16. Its a pretty steep price but the taste is pretty good for an energy drink and its a great novelty product. It’s also a heck of a lot easier to get a pack of these than suck some real blood. Just sayin’.

I agree with everything that Chris said. The nutrition facts state that this provides 55% of the recommended amount of iron. I can tell you there is indeed a strong iron taste. I also thought it tasted a little like blood.
