So if you live in Brooklyn and you have never eaten here, then you are really missing out. Di Fara Pizzeria is a pretty old, but very famous pizzeria because of the quality they have to offer. This ain't no ordinary commercial pizza. This stuff is legit.
The reason why this place is awesome is partly because of the fresh ingredients. The cheese is fresh cut from the large cubes they are pressed into. The basil (which is from Israel) put on the pizza is from a fresh clump of which the leaves are cut from with scissors. The tomato sauce is very rich in flavor, made from San Marzano Tomatoes. The oil is extra-virgin olive oil. The pizza itself is thin, the crust crunchy, and the rest is perfectly chewy and stringy (with two different types of cheese: buffalo mozzarella and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese from Italy) . The only problem is there is a heck of a long wait. I once went there and had to wait more than an hour for a pie. The reason for this is because the owner, Dom DeMarco, is the old man you see inside making the pizza pies, and HE is the only guy making the pizzas. But if you ask me, it is certainly worth the wait because the pizza you eat there is authentic. It won't be like any other pizza you have ever eaten.
One tip I'll give you guys is not to aggravate Mr. DeMarco because of the long wait. He'll tell you to get the eff out and that he isn't giving you pizza. It's cash only. If your pie is in the oven, make sure to tell him not too dark after like 15 mins because he's an old man and tends to forget and overcook it. Other than that, its just great pizza. There isn't much room to eat inside, so just grab your pizza and eat it where ever, just make sure you eat it hot.
Di Fara Pizzeria is located at the corner of East 15th street and Avenue J in Brooklyn, NY. They jacked up the price of a slice to $5, a pie is $25, and a special square pie (my fav.) is $35. I give Di Fara 4.5 outta 5 foodges. It would have been a perfect 5, but I hate watching people rip apart their pizzas as I wait an hour for mine.
