New iPod Shuffle Fail

Apple released a new revision of the iPod shuffle.

  • Half the size of previous generation.
  • 4GB storage
  • VoiceOver technology that tells you the name of the song as you listen.
  • Controls are now on the headphone cord
  • $79

Sure, its small and looks like a stick of gum. But here’s the FAIL part: Now that the controls are on the headphone cord, YOU’RE STUCK WITH THE STUPID APPLE ONES. Want to use your own headphones? Too freaking bad. Either stick with the Apple ones or wait till somebody else releases an adapter with controls on ‘em.

The guys at Apple are pretty much design geniuses right (At least that’s what the whole world thinks)? Who was the douche that thought, “Hey, we’re awesome right? We’re APPLE! We can make an mp3 player made of crap and people would still buy it as long as we stick our trusty Apple logo on it! Lets make the next iPod shuffle have NO CONTROLS!”? Such a bad idea. I doubt it would take up THAT much extra space to stick a few buttons on it.

Despite this stupid design choice, I bet people will still go buy it. Well, because IT’S APPLE. They can make an mp3 player made of crap and people would still buy it as long as it had an Apple logo on it.
