I've seen this dude in action before and he's awesome! Watch the whole video...It's worth it!

This is a trick I played on my Nature of Math class yesterday at Biola University. I like experimenting with live action and video.

This is his April Fools video that you might have seen before. I checked out his ratemyprofessor profile and he has an overall rating of 4.6/5 (WTF!) and a chili pepper, meaning he is hot...No homo...

Newton Virus for Mac

newtonvirus

A common misconception among computer users is that Macs are virus-free – they aren’t. It’s just that there are less people who use Macs, so there aren’t as many viruses targeted towards them. I haven’t had any problems with my MacBook but I did come across this extremely interesting virus.

It’s called the Newton Virus. What it does is it makes desktop icons and the taskbar susceptible to the force of gravity. It uses the MacBook’s built in accelerometer to do so. It doesn’t harm the computer in any way, nor does it send itself to other computers.

So it’s not really a virus. Just a neat little app they’re calling an “art virus”.

What makes it even stupider is that YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. That’s right. It costs $7 dollars just to download it so you can install it onto your own USB drive.

Here’s a video of it in action:

If I were to ever get a Mac (probably not anytime in the near future, I'd want to do this with it! That's wicked creative!

Safari 4 Beta

The Safari 4 Beta has just been released and it seems pretty nice. It’s faster and there a lot of new features.

Here’s a list of them.

  • Top Sites, a display of frequently visited pages in a stunning wall of previews so users can jump to their favorite sites with a single click
  • Full History Search, where users search through titles, web addresses and the complete text of recently viewed pages to easily return to sites they’ve seen before
  • Cover Flow, to make searching web history or bookmarks as fun and easy as paging through album art in iTunes®
  • Tabs on Top, for better tabbed browsing with easy drag-and-drop tab management tools and an intuitive button for opening new ones
  • Smart Address Field, that automatically completes web addresses by displaying an easy-to-read list of suggestions from Top Sites, bookmarks and browsing history
  • Smart Search Field, where users fine-tune searches with recommendations from Google Suggest or a list of recent searches
  • Full Page Zoom, for a closer look at any website without degrading the quality of the site’s layout and text
  • built-in web developer tools to debug, tweak and optimize a website for peak performance and compatibility

I used it for a little bit on my Windows 7 computer. It’s really fast. It reminds me of chrome but better. I really like the cover flow thing for browsing history but I don’t really like the tabs on top feature. Its a little annoying but I guess it saves a little space. Ran the Acid3 test on it and it got 100! Nice. For those that don’t know, acid3 is a page that checks how well a web browser follows web standards and renders things. A 100 would be full score.

I still prefer Opera. Why? Mouse gestures. Once you get used to mouse gestures you will use them everywhere even if the program you’re using doesn’t support them. Then you’ll say to yourself, “WTF? This crap should have mouse gestures. Why doesn’t it have mouse gestures???”. I guess if you’re using Safari 4 on a Macbook you’ll have those built-in track pad gestures but that’s different.

You can download the Safari 4 beta for both Mac and Windows here.

The Super Bowl is this coming Sunday and as Americans, we are (or should be) well aware that the Super Bowl is well know for their commercials. Well check out this commercial from 25 years ago introducing a new Mac. MAD old school. Shoot...I wasn't even born yet.
