This is kind of a tear jerker for me...I would call this my second/third home (in competition with Stony Brook). As many of you know, table tennis has been a big part of my life and this is where I started and this is where I trained. For 7 or 8 years I've been playing here and to watch it all go away...Man it sucks. It seems as if lately everything has just been leaving me. Friends of old, things I love, my past...As the great author C.S. Lewis once said:

“We're not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be”

I know there is a light on the other side of this tunnel and for whatever reason things are going the way they are, I know that these wounds in my heart are healing...I just need to remember not to pull off the scabs :)

So the WTTC is probably the most important tournament for world class table tennis players. It happened a couple of weeks ago and (of course) China won. If you missed it, don't worry! Check out this awesome (and epic) compilation of sweet points.

This is a new sport named Headis...It's table tennis and soccer. Is it dumb? Yes. Do they try to make it cooler by using rap music as the background music for the video? Yes. What a waste of a nice table...

First Brodmann Blade Tournament Winner: Franck Raharinosy!

posted by on 06.25.10 at 10:52 am

Franck Raharinosy, a friend of mine, and one of the owners of SPINYC won the first Brodmann Blade tournament ever held! Remember Brodmann Blades? That whacky glove-blade I did a review on a while back? Yeah. That one! He ended up winning a $2500 Brodmann Blade table which he donated to the charity NYPD Anchor Club (<--- read more about the charity there). Among him were players such as Marty Reisman, Kaz Yokoyama, and JP Kadzinski.

WORLD CHAMPIONS AT SPIN!

posted by on 06.24.10 at 12:12 am Featured

Tonight was the first night of "World Champions" at SPINYC. Thanks to Franck for getting me in. Expect a video post soon! Some celebrities were there and it was a pretty epic night to say the least. The thing about Spin is that it's about the most chill table tennis club you'll ever go to. It's literally a CLUB! There is a bar, DJ blasting music, Olympic class Gerflor and top of the line tables. There are a lot of plans coming in for WTFoodge and I just don't have time to go forward with them! Anyway, yeah...Expect a video in the coming weeks. Waldner will still be there tomorrow. You can also watch the event live here. Below are photos of me with comedian Judah Friedlander and retired Olympic runner Carl Lewis.

WORLD CHAMPIONS AT SPIN!

posted by on 05.31.10 at 3:34 am

For all you table tennis fans who read WTFoodge, THE JAN OVE WALDNER IS COMING TO NYC! For those who don't know him, he is only like, THE MICHAEL JORDAN OF PING PONG! Legit, this guy is legendary and known as THE BEST table tennis player EVAR! My friends at SPIN hooked me up and maybe, JUST MAYBE I'll be able to get an interview with him (but most likely not since I'd probably crap my pants in his presence). I'll be in awe and wouldn't know what to say or do. If you want to go, there is more info here on the SPINYC website, but I'll provide some of the info here anyway.

PRICE: $200 for reserved seats & $75 for standing room

TIME: June 23 & 24 @ 8pm EST

LOCATION: SPINYC, 48 East 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010

PHONE: 212.982.8802

Oh yeah, on a side note, Judah Friedlander will also be there.

The video above is a video of Waldner in his last olympics.

NOTE: This dude is pretty old at this point to be playing table tennis, and since he is in the flippin OLYMPICS, he shouldn't be messing around, but check out what he does in the video. SICK.
