We just played the Left 4 Dead 2 demo for two and a half hours. It was fun.

3 of the 4 writers on WTFoodge play L4D and we are highly anticipating the release of L4D2...This trailer is effing AWESOME, although I wish they'd show the tank owning everyone more.

I must say, Valve has a pretty good sense of humor. Two days ago they linked to this fan-made TF2 Guard Dog mock update. It isn’t real, but it’s pretty awesome that Valve would acknowledge the community like that.

A couple updates ago, Valve changed their Team Fortress 2 item acquisition system so that players could get unlocks as item drops. That led to many players joining what are known as “idle servers”, where players would just join the game and just basically go idle. By doing that, they didn’t have to play but still got the unlocks.

Eventually a program was released so that you could just these “idle servers” without having the full game open. Valve doesn’t like this and they’re doing something about it. The players that used these programs (4.5% of all players) are having all their unlockables removed, the good guys are being rewarded with Halos.

I just checked and I got one =]. Do you?

FRYING PAN OF DEATH.

Rock Paper Shotgun has an exclusive preview of Left 4 Dead 2. They’re saying it’s going to be a completely new game: new characters, new weapons, new maps, new zombies, and five new campaigns set in Southern United States.

There are now going to be melee weapons. The four revealed so far are the axe, baseball bat, chainsaw, and frying pan. FRYING PAN!

Also a new shotgun, new semi-automatic, and new sniper. And incendiary ammo.

Oh and new special infected too. One of them that has been revealed is the Charger, which is basically a Tank + Common Infected. It has one huge arm that it uses to charge the survivors or use to grab survivors and smash their faces into the floor.

There are also going to be bunch of gameplay changes: a smarter Director, crescendo events changed to prevent players from just sitting in one place, “Gauntlets”, as well as campaigns in the daylight.

The release is set for November 17 of this year! Why so early? I have no idea. The original L4D was released on November 18, 2008, so it’s going to be about a  year till the new L4D is out. It still seems kind of early to releasing a sequel. They should probably pump out some new content for the original before they go release a new one.

Valve has finally released details about the new Scout update! There’s a new page up here that will show all the new stuff for the Scout.

The first one that was revealed today was “the Sandman”. You hit a dude with a baseball and he gets stunned. Then you can run up to him and do some damage. It’s all explained in this little comic strip here:
